ABOUT US

What is the project about?

Project Esperança has been established at the 1st June in 2006, with headquarters in the city of Aracaju, Sergipe state. If you fully translate Project Esperança then you get Project Hope and here it's all about for the children, hope for a better future. Through the implementation of prevention programs of social risk and socio-educational protection, we want to increase the strength of family and community ties to children and adolescents, regardless of; race, color, sex, religion or any other form of discrimination.

The programs mentioned before consist school activities, computer classes, tutoring, recreational workshops, sports (capoeira and football) and music (piano and guitar). Every day another part of the program is scheduled and there are morning and afternoon sessions. The project also provides the children a snack once a day, this could be a brownie with chocolate milk something they wouldn't get at home. We also support the children for family social vulnerability in order to improve the quality of life.

How does the project operates?

Project Esperança is a Civil Society Organization of Public Interest, what operates by charity, non-profit and for an indeterminate time. The project is run by volunteer groups and it also benefits from her partnerships, including other NGO's, churches and organizations who are specialized in health, theatre, sports and social welfare.

Its working methodology is guided on the assumption of the human being as a complex and multifaceted being, whose biological, psychological, social and spiritual dimensions need attention to become an integrated whole. Thus, all the developed activities are helping to generate attention to each of these dimensions.

What is the mission of the project?

Our target audience is children and adolescents 6-18 years and their families who are at risk or social vulnerable. We also guarantee access by spontaneous demand, active search, routing the social assistance network, and referral of other public policies in order to ensure the right of them. Nowadays there are 90 children and 120 families enrolled with the project.

The fundamental principle of the project is to effectively contribute to raising self-esteem and improve professional skills, with a view to improving school performance and maximizing future expectations through the activities developed. The institution seeks to be one of the fundamental steps for optimization of transforming processes and will function as a driver to stimulate family member inclusion, providing better psychosocial understanding and material conditions for participants of the project.

In short, the project is here to increase the self-esteem and quality of life, contributing to the reduction of social exclusion, as well as glimpsing the possibility of a rebound in building citizenship and autonomy of the participants of the project, thus contributing to the rescue of their dignity by offering a stimulating environment of human and civic values and also a welcoming atmosphere for developing potential.
